2026 - Today's Recipe

Asda had a very good deal a Valentine's meal,  £28 worth of meal for £12. We had the steak, cauliflower cheese, roasted carrots & sticky toffee pud last night, with the goats cheese and caramelised onion tarts for lunch.

Lidl were selling off their Valentine's meal food yesterday! Didn't look very inspiring though!

I'm out today and maybe look into Lidl's,  everyone other than Asda meal deals were in the £20 mark. The only good thing about Valentines was the meal deal 

I’ve had boiled in the bag kippers done in the microwave along with some bread and butter.
Not had that for ages mostly because of the smell hanging around the house forever.

I'm no longer a fan of the meal deals because most of them include a bottle of plonk (which I don't drink) and have very little in the way of Vegetarian or even Fish offers. Morries, yesterday was piled high with the vegetable side dishes - unpriced. I guess all the main course options had been sold.

When Helen was alive I was banned from the kitchen with kippers or smoked fish! I even once tried a home made hot smoker indoors and couldn't get rid of the smell for days!

Carnivore pancakes for lunch and just cooked off a small beef joint for slicing later.

We used to take the Deep fat fryer outside when  cooking fish and chips - because of the smell!

Definitely pancakes. If there will be something savoury before I don’t know.

I do enjoy kippers but MrB isn’t too keen on them or their lingering smell.
