A thread to highlight special events in the night sky - eclipses, comets, special moons.
Tonight, we welcome the Harvest or Hunter Moon - a supermoon.

Thanks Veggie. I’ll go have a look in a minute. See if I can see it.

I noticed the moon as I left my Daughters and mentioned that her Mam used to do a little curtsy, spin aound and cross herself? No idea why though?
I know that the sun is the God and the Moon is the Goddess in pagan beliefs?

It made some lovely patterns shining in the thinner clouds. Never actually got to see the harvest moon.

Thanks Veggie. It’s quite clear at the moment. I’ll have a look out later. If it’s still clear, I’ll attempt to stay awake past midnight for a look. Orion’s Belt is one of the few things in the sky I actually know. So that’s very exciting already knowing what to look for.

Its the Wolf supermoon tonight. Last chance to see a supermoon until November 2026 - so get out there in the cold and have a look (or through the window as I am).
