Floods

Information
Awful rain on IOW overnight. Our driveway and garages are flooded with water higher than wellies and is rising . We put our old beloved Picasso in the garage for security and now it's full of water inside and won't go. We're due home tomorrow but that's not happening. Currently trying to figure out what to do.

can't figure out why this pic is upside down

I just came on here to ask whether the floods on the IoW were affecting you and saw this. That's awful, Jen, I'm so sorry. I assume your flat isn't ground level. Hope it drains away soon.

Insurance say its a write off so are no help whatsoever, breakdown recovery hear the words flood and run a mile. My dilemma is whether to repair a much loved and convenient car or get a new one which I don't want.  I'm currently trying to get quotes for recovery to ferry and someone to meet the ferry the other end to take it back to salisbury

The water is receding but unfortunately the water in the footwells has nowhere to drain to. Sad

Lift the carpet in the footwells and look for any rubber bungs. If none, drill a hole in the floor pan. We had to do that with my old Triumph Spitfire.
Or use a pump (we used a pond pump) to pump the water out and dry the rest out with towels, newspaper. Had to do that with the current car when the scuttle tray got blocked.

Found this which may help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tjCvkdoMTw

At home we would be able to do all of that with a wet/dry vacuum cleaner and power tools etc. Over here not so easy as it's inside a garage and to just get in the car I have to climb into the back seat and sqeeze through the front seats to get to the drivers position.  All in all its a perfect storm for being awkward.
