My happy today is that the thaw has enabled me to get to the ghs and it looks like my penstemmon may have survived the minus temps. It's early days of course but they're not all wilted and frosted.
Gardening is an excuse not to do housework

Its the Winter Solstice - the daylight hours will increase after today. This makes me exceedingly happy.

Geordie living 'ower the watter'

Two days ago my microwave blew up. Yesterday someone crashed into my car when it was parked at my door. 
What's made me happy today is that things usually happen in three's and nowt's happened yet!  (Washer is making a few bumpy,grindy noises though so frightened to 'count my chickens' just yet!

Looks like the special 70th birthday present I ordered for my Dad has finally arrived (a custom-made pocket knife from one of the last independent Sheffield knife-makers). Too late for his birthday, but just in time for Christmas!
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!
