Potted up some tomato seedlings. Sieved some more compost. Did a load of washing and dried it in the sun. Defrosted the kitchen freezer and shuffled the contents around. Some odd meals coming up soon!

Cut back some raspberries and the Balm of Gilead. Cleared more brambles. Snapped more fallen twigs, Raked out dead grass. Discovered a rhubarb, struggling to find light.
Defrosted another freezer!

A lot of the day spent in the attic. Filled a couple of large celled trays, ready for tomato seedlings. Filled another tray and sown seeds in it.

I get to try out my new American Flat bow and arows later today at the indoor range. I've only had it a few days but had a few shots at a plastic bag in the garden, placed at 10 yards, 15 yards, 18 yards, 20 yards and 25 yards! For the tmes I missed I blamed the sun being in my eyes!
I may even try to make a makeshit target by stuffing old clothes into a white hessian type bag and marking a target on it with a felt tip? Good excuse to have a clean out of clothes I never wear!

Making a list of what I want to grow with the aim of drawing a plan. This is always pointless because I just start putting things in wherever there's bare ground, but I persist in trying.
I have 30+ items on the list, some of which are potatoes and alliums, so not the same work involved as things grown from seed. Even so, I'm looking at 20+ things from seed - nevermind the flowers. Even knowing that some won't work, it seems rather ambitious...

Direct sown seeds. Potted up / pricked out another 84 tomato seedlings. Still more coming up. Weeded both clematis mini against the fence beds. Dug a new mini against the fence bed. Edged with stones and transplanted one of the clematis into it. A job I’ve been meaning to do for last 2 years. Hopefully this year I’ll see some flowers on it because the sheep can’t get to it now. The bed the clematis came out of still has tulips in it . So I put slates on their edges right up against the fence and pushed them into the ground a little. Hopefully this will slow the grass ingress. Fed the potatoes. And harvested things for tea

Weeded and shuffled pots in GH2 and sowed seeds into any empty spaces. Scattered old salsify & scorzonera seeds under some fruit trees.

I sowed Scorzonera last year and it is still growing but I have no idea when you harvest it? Do I let it flower and set seed or harvest it beforehand?

Dunno! I know you dig it up like a carrot but I just want it for the flowers. Too many roots under the trees for digging holes!
EDIT I asked the Duck for you - https://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/expert-...scorzonera

Just a bit of weeding, chopping, binning. You wouldn't notice the difference.
