Weeded around some emerging, randomly planted rhubarb and put metal collars around them for protection - the collars are leftovers from the old halogen cookers. I acquire.
Cut down some brambles in VP7. I want to make more use of this space this year - have to clear it first!
Sorted the bag of mixed beans etc that I was given yesterday. There are big and small white ones, large dark mottled ones ?runner beans, biggish round brown beans and some smaller, similar coloured ones with speckles, small, slim black and beige and dark brown beans. A couple of brown and cream "orca" beans, 4 broad beans, two types of ?sunflower seeds, a few peas and squash seeds. There were some odd seeds seeds in the bottom of the bag which I emptied in the garden. It kept me busy when the rain arrived this afternoon!

Mixed some wildflower seeds with compost and scattered. Sow a small amount of 2 varieties in a tray in the tunnel, just to see.
Potted up 45 of the mixed tomatoes. A lot more coming up .

Managed to play in the garden all day - good weather for it!
Sieved another crate of compost.
Did some weeding of VP1 (the old pond). No sign of frog spawn.
Broke up lots of fallen twigs from the ash trees and dropped them on the muddy paths.
Did some weeding in Strip 3 - mostly pulling up Vinca.
Dug up some self seeded brassicas (in the lawn!) and replanted them in a cluster where there are others. I don't know what they are - something kale-like or maybe texel greens. Whatever they are - they're very keen to spread themselves about. There's one growing in the bonfire pit! I should try cooking some to see if they're worth keeping. I've nibbled a leaf and Ted likes eating them - but he'll eat any brassicas!

Separated the little pots of dwarf tomatoes and sweet peppers which had two seedlings growing in them. Potted them up into their own little pots to grow on.
Thinned out the seedlings of basil, lettuce and rocket.

Did a bit of weeding in cottage garden. Planted a couple of things in spaces where things hadn’t survived the winter. Cut back and weeded everything on the herb shelves. The thyme planted in the Kenwood mixer died so emptied that out . Refilled with fresh compost and a berries & cream mint . Pricked out lots of candelabra primulas. Emptied out 2 big flower pot that had insect feed plants in them last year. Rehomed an ox-eye daisy, clover and foxglove. New bird feeder arrived so filled that and hung it in the holly tree. Weeded the last tunnel bed. Fed the workers at lunch

Cut back and repotted one of last year's physalis. Put a cutting in water to see if I can regrow it this way.
Shuffled some pots around in GH1. Moved a pot of chard out into the garden.
Raked and turned some piles of weeds that are dotted around the garden - they compost down in situ. Pulled up some montbretia. Cut the dead wood out of a weigela - its easy to see the dead stuff now that the leaves are emerging.
Cut down some brambles that were growing through the "trampoline frame". Cut back a very boring bush - some sort of pieris, I think, but it doesn't have pretty flowers - just turns a bit red in autumn. I may get rid of it completely soon as it has spread too far.
Did some weeding in VP2. Spotted flowers on the peach tree.
A good day!

Cut down autumn raspberries (perhaps a bit late). Weeded raspberry cage then dug out and potted up some errant canes.
