A self watering herb house! https://www.giftrepublic.com/garden/grow...ring-house
I think anyone who is given one of these is going to be disappointed! Imagine how much rosemary you could grow from seed in a coir pellet. Cute gift but IMO useless. I might use it for growing something little - not sure what at the moment!

Went to Morries this afternoon and a very friendly staff member was adding stuff from a trolley to the damaged/end of line shelves. She said that if I saw anything on the trolley or on the shelves, she would mark it down further for me.Big Grin
I haven't had any Easter Eggs this year - but now I have 4.Big Grin All with battered boxes but with completely unsquashed eggs and chocolates - they were 25p each, previously £2.50/£4.50.
I also acquired a pair of gardening gloves for 45p, as the other two pairs in the pack of three had gone AWOL. However, the YS label wasn't recognised at the till, so they gave them to me. Big Grin
Did I mention the YS Apple cream turnovers?? Its been a good cheap day!

If you don't find a use pass it on to someone with kids for growing cress,  I remember our kids growing cress in egg shells.

I got a free bag of carrots from Aldi too. Someone overstocked for Easter methinks.

I went to church this morning. I always aim to be there at the end, to pick up the leftovers, rather than taking stuff that others may need. There wasn't much left today! Came away with lots of bread and rolls - should be enough to keep me fed until next month. Also, from the bottom of their freezer, sausages, prawns, kippers and lamb chunks. Plus fresh parsnips and a bunch of roses and lilies, which look OK now they've been pruned!
After church, I was messaged by the lady who started my "collection out of date food" habit. "Did I know anyone who would be interested in saving some sweets and biscuits from the bin!! ". Of course I do. Big Grin She gave me a box of savoury cracker biscuits, a box of Spanish shortbread (that she'd bought on holiday) and a huge bag of loose sweets, fudge and chocolates - the sort of sweets you'd buy for Trick or treat, or children's parties, plus the unwanted ones from tubs of Quality Street. I've been trick and treating myself all afternoon.

With the decision that she couldn’t stay in the house another winter. So she was moved to a nursing home down south somewhere, closer to family. Unfortunately she passed away just before Christmas. Her granddaughter has been here this weekend sorting things out. As everyone knows Bob is a wood turner he was contacted to see if he wanted the lathe that was in the garage. Especially as Bob used to cut the grass for her. We also recently found out the this lady was an artist. So was asked if there was any chance of one of her paintings we could have to remember her by.
We got there and the granddaughter said the family is keeping a few bites, but most will be going to house clearances. So if want anything to take it. We came home with a car full of some of the most random things you could imagine, lots of tools some useful some just very old and cool. And at least 6 of her paintings.
We’re going back tomorrow afternoon for a Welsh dresser and some crockery and lot of plant pots.
We will be making a donation to RNLI.
I do feel like a bit of a vulture  Blush . But someone who knew her have some of her stuff and making a donation. Has got to be better than house clearance making money out of all her things.
Finally managed to get back for the Welsh dresser. We’d kinda given up on it because we’d asked several times if we could collect over the months. With no response. But we got it just in time, house clearance is going in on Monday.  We got a few other bits as well and we had to collect a few bits for other people. We got some lovely old cutlery, an old serving plate, a pasta machine, 2 mason cash mixing bowls, and couple of other bits from the kitchen. Some old toy cars, an old lantern like they used to take down the mines. Bed pan thing you put hot coals in. A big oval mirror.  A little bench almost like a miniature church pew with a tapestry seat. Hopefully the right size for a window seat for skew ( he likes to know what’s going on) . Also got an set of old garden sieves , galvanised watering can, 3 old gardening books, old stone hot water bottle, about a dozen terracotta pots, a stone frog, a few gardening tools and a jacket .
Builder that would like to go play in the garden.

I'm glad you saved those items from the house clearers. The old lady would be pleased too.
