There's a programme on Radio 4 called "Food Britannia" with a chap called Max Cotton who has a smallholding in Somerset. He seems to have similar wacky ideas to me but he actually carries them out! He's already spent a year eating only the food he could produce on his smallholding. Its on Youtube. He has the advantage over most people because he has enough land to keep a cow, pigs and hens, plus a small vineyard. Can't really compete with that!
His new wacky plan "Food Britannia" is to eat only UK grown/produced food. I've only heard snatches of the programme but he was alarmed to find out that Marmite was off limits as, although its made in the UK, some of the ingredients are imported.
I'm going to listen to the other episodes when I have time.
