For the first time in a good few years I made some jam today with the blackcurrants I gathered this morning. No recipe involved but I seem to remember it was even amounts of fruit and sugar so I weighed out a kilo of blackcurrants to go with my kilo of sugar. That was only half of the blackcurrants I had picked so I gave what was left to my daughter and she froze them.
I got eight small jars of jam and probably a bad tummy with all the jam I had eaten after scraping the jam pan and sampling as I went. It appears to be a good set after a fast simmer for 10 minutes? I just hope that when it cools it doesnt turn into a brick as the set was maybe too good?
