Last night around midnight we were just about to turn light off and go to sleep when we heard clattering above, it wasn't Christmas Eve so I was sure it wasn't Santa, so I got up to investigate (please note it was I, not P!). I thought it was from outside but no, it was from the loft. We occasionally get mice up there but nothing that usually makes that noise, so I banged on the ceiling with a walking stick thinking to shut it up but no, it was still clattering after several hefty knocks. Not having this, I thought, opened up the loft hatch and started up, bearing in mind I had very little on, all I could here from below was laughter!
Noise had stopped of course, but I set a trap anyway. This morning the bait had gone and the trap still set so whatever it was had some canny sense. I still don't know what it was, mice or rat, but I've set more reliable traps and P is going to set up a camera to record what happens up there tonight. Should be interesting. Watch this space.
