How many of us do big batch cooking?
I do sometimes. But not often. I’ve stopped big batch soup making. It’s never as good from the freezer as it is just cooked. I do like to chilli & lasagna ( meat or veg ) big batch. But it doesn’t happen as often as it could.
Yesterday I did a big batch of Staffordshire oatcakes.

35 oatcakes later. 28 made it to the freezer. A couple sampled and some for tea.

We batch cook both bol and chilli in a Dutch oven, it usually makes enough for 7 meals.
Here’s my sourdough oatcakes this batch made 18.

I usually cook double the quantity so that I can freeze half but I don't cook in bulk.
Both versions of oatcakes look nice.

I never have the freezer space for big batches, but like Veggie I often cook more than required at one meal and freeze the remainder for another meal.

When we do casseroles, curry or soup there’s always some left for a second day. If it’s not going to be eaten it gets frozen.
It’s handy to have something that just needs reheating. Big Grin

I freeze meat in portions big enough for three people with a big of a margin, so when Jay's daughter isn't at home, I have the leftovers for lunch.

I used to batch cook when I lived on my own, but I have less freezer space now. I do still do massive pots of chilli and bolognaise - it just grows in size!
