I might have one in my bathroom which I thought was dead until I picked it up and seen it's legs twitching so I put it back. It's wings were closed though so I am still unsure what type it is, but judging by it's brownish colour  (I thought it was a moth!) I suppose it could be? Huh

I don’t think I’ve seen one since I was a kid.

Whether in flight I'd ever be able to distinguish between large/small tortoiseshell, painted lady or comma, or any other orange spotty one is another matter

The butterfly that was resting in my bathroom has gone now so it's either flown out the window or is hiding somewhere upstairs? I guess I will never see the colour of it's wings?
