Wild/Perennial/Babington leeks - Veggie - 14-08-2020 [attachment=1036] They're forming bulbils in the flowerheads now. Each of these bulbils will grow another leek - but it takes a couple of years to grow large enough to grow its own bulbils. Once they're established they keep growing back every year. Don't ask me what they taste like as I don't eat them - I grow them because I like having them in the garden; they're the county flower of Cardiff, they grow wild only in a few places around the coast of the UK- and because they're unusual. The bees love the flowers, as they do every allium head. RE: Wild/Perennial/Babington leeks - Broadway - 14-08-2020 They are on my list to get this year, I believe the suppliers said October ish ![]() RE: Wild/Perennial/Babington leeks - Veggie - 14-08-2020 Depending on how many I manage to save, and how many people are in the Seed Swap, I'm hoping to share some amongst us. They'll just be the bulbils though - don't know whether you're talking about those or the plants, Danny? RE: Wild/Perennial/Babington leeks - Veggie - 14-08-2020 They taste like leeks and I have plenty of those so no reason to terminate one of the wild ones. They also produce side-leeks at the base as they age.
