I-SPY Wildlife - A 6 a Day Challenge - Veggie - 27-02-2026 A Daily Challenge to SPY wildlife in your garden/outdoors. The aim is to SPY and identify each of the following:- A Bird A Butterfly or Moth (incuding caterpillar, chrysalis and imago) A Bee or Wasp A Mollusc An insect or spider Another living creature (you can only use a "named human" or a "pet" once )Every day must be different - for example, once you're seen a Robin, you can't SPY him again. RE: I-SPY Wildlife - A 6 a Day Challenge - Small chilli - 27-02-2026 Oh that’s a good challenge. The only bird I can think of beginning with A is an albatross! Going to be tricky to spot one of these in my garden. I’m definitely up for playing this one. Back later with a list of A’s if I see any. Edit I just re-read your post not an alphabetical challenge. Well that makes things considerably easier Ok back with a list of wildlife later. Does it have to be in the garden or can it be visible from the garden? Edit….again Fine ! Forget my last question! I’m obviously have trouble reading/ understanding perfectly simple things today. I’ve definitely got it this time RE: I-SPY Wildlife - A 6 a Day Challenge - Veggie - 27-02-2026 If it makes you feel better, I rewrote the post a couple of times as it didn't make sense to me either. ![]() basically, you can SPY them anywhere but only once. I thought we could do it every month to show the changes in wildlife through the year. We'll count today and tomorrow as March unless you want to have a couple of days in February to practice.
RE: I-SPY Wildlife - A 6 a Day Challenge - Small chilli - 27-02-2026 A bird - white tailed eagle. 3 flying about overhead. I don’t see them every day so definitely mentioning them on the day I do. A moth or butterfly - none A bee or wasp - British black bees (honey bee). There first proper day out of the year. Very good to see. A mollusc - a garden snail ( after research to ID the variety). Still hibernating in the sheet that’s covering the manure heap. A insect - a spider . Species not identified as not officially an insect Another living creature - fallow deer . [attachment=8694] [attachment=8695] [attachment=8696] Not good photos but evidence. No eagles they wouldn’t have even been dots on the screen. RE: I-SPY Wildlife - A 6 a Day Challenge - Veggie - 27-02-2026 Its going to be difficult to keep up with you, SC. ![]() I've added Spider to the Insect category and I'll add Caterpillar to the Butterfly/moth one. RE: I-SPY Wildlife - A 6 a Day Challenge - JJB - 27-02-2026 I'm taking mine from the last day I was in the garden, but I'm not sure I'll find a different one a day. A bird - longtailed tit A Butterfly or Moth - a brimstone I think, it was sulphur yellow A Bee or Wasp - some sort of bumble dive bombed me, I've no idea what sort. A Mollusc - snail An insect - woodlouse Another - field spaniel puppy RE: I-SPY Wildlife - A 6 a Day Challenge - Veggie - 27-02-2026 Today A Wren, Buff tailed bumble bee, a snail, a spider and a horse. Didn't see a butterfly/moth. |
