A Food Question. :D - Veggie - 13-01-2026

We've been discussing on another thread our likes and dislikes when it comes to food. Fussy lot, aren't we.Big Grin

Imagine that all of G&G are coming to visit you and will be expecting something to eat. Can you suggest a menu, or even one item, that all of us would eat?

RE: A Food Question. :D - Vinny - 14-01-2026

It would have to contain eggs and fish I imagine? It wouldn't be my ideal because of the rice, but I could make sacrifices for a single plate of kedgeree or Paella?, which i have now and again, and hopefully wouldn't upset too many of us?
.
Failing that, a prawn and cheese omellette which I have quite regularily. Cool

It really depends whether any of us are hardcore vegetarians, vegans or carnivores. I class myself as carnivore mainly eating animal products but really my food is only 85 to 95% meat centric?

You can't go wrong with a bowl of porridge.

Assuming we’re all incredibly polite. When visiting fellow g&g members for the first time. We would make an exception to are usual dietary rules. Graciously except a slice of homemade cake .

Option B they go hungry if they don’t like your offerings  Big Grin .

Sorry Bren but that's a no no for me.I don't eat anyhting to do with grains or seed oils. People add cream to porridge as far as i know? Huh I would just have the cream alone, with some left for Kato at the end! Big Grin

Two sensible options methinks! Smile

Veggie is (NSS) vegetarian and doesn't like spicy but does eat fish, dislikes sloshy sweet stuff
Vinny is carnivore veges are an aterthought
SC doesn't like stews or marzipan
Bren is demi veg
Jen eats anything and everything as long as its not scratchy
What would all enjoy? It sounds like a maths Venn diagram question.

Starters: Lobster or Prawns of some sort or perhaps a frito de mer platter. Maybe devilled eggs
Mains: salmon probably roasted with loads of veg that Vinny can ignore or in a creamy sauce on a bed of pasta
Desserts: chocolate something, Guinness cake., mousse, Roulade.

Feel free to add alternatives

Another question:

Each of you list your ideal/favourite celebration meal, then we can see if we have any overlaps because if we were to all get together, it would truly be a celebration.

Difficult question. I like so many different cuisines / dishes. I’m not sure what I’d class as a celebration meal. I’ll have to give that some thought.

No cream in my porridge its made with water Vinny, I do add a dollop of yoghurt and something like stewed apple, rhubarb or banana slices on top.  It's my go to meal when I don't know what to have.
