November - what's special? - Veggie - 15-11-2023

November is not my favourite month (cold, bleak, dark nights etc) so I'm looking for the positive things that November offers.

Today, the sun is shining on the autumn leaves. Some are glowing as if they're on fire.  It seems late but most of the trees are still in leaf.
I can still dry washing outdoors even though it catches falling leaves on their way earthwards. Pillowcases, in particular, are good leaf catchers!

It’s seed swap month Big Grin

Like you’ve said, when the sun does shine the colours are spectacular.
Winter months are building months. They are good.

The further we get into November the closer we get to the shortest day of the year.

November gives me leaves to mulch to add to the compost with grass mowings. It's very satisfying to have a pile of leaves bigger than me reduced to 15-20 sacks of shredded leaves to add to grass mowings for potential black gold or leafmould.

This is why November is special.
