They are red ones. I was very surprised to find they are like chioggia beetroot. With the red & white stripes. I’ve grated a couple of raw ones already and added to salads & stir fries. Sweeter than beetroot I think. Not tried grating cooked one. That’s going to be interesting.

Do you consider them to be better or worse than normal beetroot. Looking at the size of them on the Web I would think they might not like stoney ground.

RE: 2025 - Today's Recipe - Vinny - 27-07-2025

On Friday my fishy experiment was a tin of salmon mixed with three eggs, chopped onion and grated chedder. It was too sloppy to make patties with so with lots of butter added to the frying pan it became a scrambled mix up! I added salt and grated parmesan to the finished product and it was quite tasty and filling.
Kato enjoyed the bones and skin of the salmon which I wasn't too keen on, even though I know it's supposed to be good for you?

Yesterday I was away with the motorhome, trying out the rear suspension lift I had pumped up to see how it handled. I am currently parked up at Nenthead and made smashburgers yesterday from 20% fat mince.Kato had his with mozarella and I had the same with a slice of black pudding on each, sandwiching the  burger, mozarello &  black pudding.

Just a nice up of coffie and a biccie up til now but I have eggs, steak, more mince, cheese & bacon in the onboad fridge so will make a decision when I arrive at my next port of call?

I need to get home today as I am helping my eldest son move house early tomorrow morning.

Just had a bit of a ffy up in the motorhome whilst watching Newastle v Arsenal in a friendly. (The miracle of the Amazon Firestick)

So it was smash burgers, smoked bacon & mozaello cheese with some creamy mint sauce shared with Kato of course.

Raised beds solves the stones ground problem. I think I like them a little more than beetroot. I find beetroot a little too earthy.
