A cherry, from the year you told us about the bundle of bargain fruit trees Big Grin

It looks healthy! Some of mine sent up suckers from the rootstock and I've been too lazy to remove them. Wink

Mine have as well but not been much of an issue as yet. I'm down to four as the nectarine and apricot didn't make it in pots long-term with my lacklustre care. The apple isn't up to much since it's swamped by other stuff. The cherry usually makes a few cherries for the birds but actually looks healthier than usual this year. The pear made its first few fruits last year but I waited too long to harvest so they weren't very nice. The plum has made fruit for a few years and we really like them.

The plot looks rich with potential. All you need now is time (in short supply in your case I expect) and agreeable weather.

It's strangely feeling achievable if the weather cooperates. Fingers crossed!

Well, it was indeed not achievable last year. I was not able to keep up with watering at the plot, which led to a pretty disappointing year. On the positive side, we've been down to the plot several times this year and it's getting into decent shape. The kids are much happier playing down at the plot again - last year my youngest was very upset about insects. I am again hopeful for a good year, although I had a very serious think about giving up the plot last autumn. Let's hope for a more encouraging season.

Looking good , DJ. I think that this time of the year is the best time! Fruit trees blossoming, spring flowers and happy birdlife. So much promise for what's to come. Last year was pretty awful here too. I couldn't keep up with the watering either - didn't even pick a courgette.
This year will be better and your little helpers will love being on your plot.

Gardens love optimism. None of us kept up with watering last year and our UK crops are not used to the endless heat. My beans were rubbish but the sweetcorn thrived. I think you do amazingly well considering that you've got little ones.
