Absolutely nothing to do with what is the best diet - we all have different opinions on that!!
Really, I would have liked you all to wander around your garden/allotment and see how many edible plants you can find in January. Its not too late to play. Big Grin
Sorry, I can't help myself Veggie!  Blush I'll try and keep on track with this thread in the future! Big Grin
Just remember, you're not the only one with 3 score years and 10 under their belt, who doesn't take medication so quit  lecturing and get on with gardening. Tongue

At this time of year there's very little. A bit of chard, kale and maybe some oniony things that haven't been frosted to death. On the herb side there might be some small parsley sprigs, rosemary of course but little else.

Only chard, kale, parsnips, land cress and JA's here, plus some herbs I leave in the GH.

Not many edibles in my tiny garden sans greenhouse. there is kale, chard, lambs lettuce, and herbs - rosemary, thyme, sage. There's lavender, but I'm not a fan of eating that!

A potter round the plot this morning (before yet more rain) revealed kale, Brussels, winter cabbage, leeks, beetroot, black radish, chard, celery (leaves only), Trébons onions (green tops only), Romanesco caulis and at the weekend we picked THE Meyer lemon from the plant in a pot on the terrace and fleeced at night!
Herbs we have sage, mint, rosemary, thyme, chives just pushing through, bay & oregano plus some coriander in a pot in the house.

Just onions and leeks here wth some Austurian tree cabbage if I was so inclined. I need to use up the leeks soon as they will be throwing up seed heads. The bed of onion sets which I thought were doing really well have turned out to be garlic which I had forgoten I'd planted. Blush The elephant garlic is starting to pop it's head above soil level now, eventually!
Oops, forgot about fartichokes which I have yet to harvest!
