Repotted a few things, sown seeds. Filled 2 big trays with water then stood lots of very thirst plants in them. Helped Bob.

More potting on, weeding, carrying plants in and out the house, made jam and roasted rhubarb.

No gardening, unfortunately. Starting next week we have plasterers and decorators in to revamp the living room. This means finding room to store all the furniture and junk, as we have to clear the room. Ive been packing stuff into boxes and luckily next door has an empty garage we can use. Paul removed the ceiling fan yesterday and looked into taking down the 4 wall lights. Then things started to go wrong. The electrics behind the lights(installed by previous owner) are very suspect, unethical and in some cases downright dangerous. Today P&I are burrowing in the loft insulation to find the cables that feed the lights and see if he can rectify the problems. If I'm not back here tomorrow send in the dogs. Big Grin I would much rather be in the garden!

Allotment this morning. Watering and weeding, planting out a few flower seedlings and the first pumpkins.

Cleared some shelf space in GH4 and added the dead plants to the compost bin. Filled the empty space with a planter of "windowsill" tomatoes that had outgrown their headroom in GH2.
Emptied a tray of CFBs that hadn't germinated. They seem to have gone squidgy in the modules. Interestingly, I've just read this which could explain the cause:-
"Tender plants such as beans and courgettes hate cold nights. At the other end of the scale, fleshy seeds such as peas and beans when sown in a greenhouse can get too hot and almost cook when the temperature is in the 20’s. The seed just rots off. We use John Innes No 1 for these, it’s a loam based compost and doesn’t get as hot as the peat free."
I'll keep my next seeds in the house until they germinate.
