RE: What's flying near you? - JJB - 29-06-2025 A few days ago I found a very young long tailed tit in the fruit cage. Before I could discover which particular hole it had got in by, it had fluttered around a bit then popped its head through the soft mesh roof and flew away. This morning, doing the rounds to check nothing was in the cages, furry or feathered, I noticed a flock of long tails in the trees and several 'strap hanging' youngsters outside on the fruit cage net. I walked up to politely tell them not to attempt to go in, I didn't want to frighten them too much. No chance of that. I had quite a long conversation with at least two, face to face and with much twittering. They gave up eventually when the troupe of at least 15 decided to decamp, but I don't think they listened to a word I said, they were too busy gossiping. |
