I already have one but it needs to be emptied and cleaned - so I thought I'd collect another one. RE: 2025 - Freecycle and similar Free stuff - Veggie - 24-11-2025 Our local Post Office is in the Spar shop and, with a parcel to be sent, it was a good time to have one of their TGTW offers for £3.33. Excellent value - 3 boxes of fresh meat (Chinese pork steaks x 2 and Gammon steaks) All within their use by date (today or tomorrow) and on offer at £9 for 3. Plus 2 hotdogs in rolls, crabsticks with dip and 2 kilos of Welsh grown Maris PIper potatoes. Bargain. ![]() Also, with TGTW, you get a £5 credit after you've bought 9 TGTW offers - so this lot was actually FREE.
RE: 2025 - Freecycle and similar Free stuff - Veggie - 26-11-2025 Did a swap with a friend who's just had a knee replacement. Took her a book, magazines, toiletries, and unwanted food stuff. (She collects for Ukraine and homeless charities). ' She gave me 8 cakes, including chocolate fudge, iced lemon, chocolate swiss roll, almond fingers and jaffa cakes. Also a pot of her husband's homemede jam - he loves making jam!! We had a long chat, especially about her knee! Hope I wasn't supposed to sound sympathetic because I told her it looked like a Cornish pastie - with a line of puckered stitches over the knee.

RE: 2025 - Freecycle and similar Free stuff - Veggie - 01-12-2025 One of my regulars gave me two tubs of cottage cheese, yogurt, sweetcorn cobs, tenderstem broccoli, 3 lemons, a carton of orange juice, kebeb wraps and some chicken satay skewers (Ted will like these). RE: 2025 - Freecycle and similar Free stuff - Bren - 05-12-2025 I called in at the Church and came home with a wholemeal loaf, French stick, some onions and a big bag of blueberries. Loaf and french sticks have been sliced then froze so have most of the blueberries. Still plenty of food bank leftovers in the trays when I left. RE: 2025 - Freecycle and similar Free stuff - Veggie - 05-12-2025 Yesterday I gave away a dining chair and collected 6 pairs of new socks.
RE: 2025 - Freecycle and similar Free stuff - Veggie - 06-12-2025 Its was Free Food Church Day today but there was nothing left! Apparently they hadn't been able to collect much from the supermarkets and what they did collect had been taken before I got there! All I had were two battered coriander herbs in pots - doubt that they'll survive. Also a couple of tins of peas and red beans. Next I went to Lidl to try out the Lidl App on my phone. I'm not the most confident of phone users and was convinced I'd mess it up. When you sign up you can claim a free Vegetable (a bag of potatoes is the most expensive) and something from the bakery counter (a sourdough loaf is £1.99), if you spend £5. I needed a few bits and pieces (and an Amaryllis) so decided to brave the crowds and make a fool of myself! The good news is, I didn't embarrass myself and came away with a FREE bag of spuds and a loaf. Sadly, there were no amaryllis to be seen. ![]() They were giving away tasters of cakes so I had a couple of those too.
