Failed to germinate RE: 2026 tomato selection - Garrett - 25-03-2026 Haley's Purple Comet didn't germinate so I've replaced with De Barao Black which has germinated today. Never grown it. So I’m no help whatsoever. I’d definitely be giving it a go if it wasn’t F1. I'm not as strict as you, I still have my F1 favourites, they're getting fewer though. Decent yield, good texture, but a bit bland. To be fair, I have found most orange/yellow beefsteaks quite bland compared to other colours, so they're just not my thing. My Honeymoon last year was very poor germination and non existent this year. That's the end of the packet. RE: 2026 tomato selection - toomanytommytoes - 15-04-2026 Where were the seeds from? Mine were from Pennard Plants. I think the seeds didn't germinate last year either. The packet was only from 2024, and I got good germination a few years ago from the packet I ordered in 2022. The seeds were very small, which is quite unusual for a beefsteak tomato. RE: 2026 tomato selection - Garrett - 15-04-2026 Funny that the F1 seeds haven't germinated. Given the premium price you'd think they'd shoot up! |
