RE: The build - Veggie - 20-10-2025

Looking on the bright side (you have to), the pink pipes look like an octopus crawling across the floor.
I'm afraid to ask what went wrong with the windows. Sad

These big pointy one [attachment=8550] (First photo I got too) . Have to be opening. In case of fire.

Really not looking forward to fitting them again . And more difficult this time around as the windows are coming fully glazed.

RE: The build - Veggie - 20-10-2025

That's a bummer! Is each pointy window a single pane of glass? Hope the hinges are strong, if you should need to open them. Shame you can't put an emergency exit in the side wall instead.
Did the helipcopter come to check on you? Big Grin Great photo,

Old windows are in 2 pieces a triangle at the top and a big square at the bottom. New windows will have 2 rectangles instead of the square as that size was too large to be opening.

That helicopter was landing at one of the other houses in the village to pick up the wife & kid when they finished their holiday.

RE: The build - Veggie - 20-10-2025

That makes sense! Can you reuse the old windows somewhere? Shed, GH, even a coldframe?

RE: The build - Small chilli - 20-10-2025

We’re going to give them to a friend who is going to help with the swapping and is planning a conservatory

RE: The build - Bren - 20-10-2025

Hope the window swap goes well, they look huge to handle. It’s good to hear you have help.

Oh that must have been devastating. Excruciating expense and eye-watering bother.

A helicopter to collect you from holiday! Now that is just too extravagant.....but rather exciting.

We’ve actually known about our window mistake for a long time but we’re half hoping we might get away with it. We were happy to keep a hammer in the living room. Just in case such horrific events ever happened ( not that that solution would work in the slightest with building regs and who ever else gets excited about such things) . But we decided to change them this summer when I walked into the living room to find the shower wet wall that’s being stored in there was bent nearly double with the heat.

Hopefully the shower wet wall is now back to it’s original shape. It got pinned back flat against the wall with sheets of plywood. But we won’t know for sure until we take it out of its packaging. So fingers crossed it’s ok. Another item thats very difficult to get delivered here.

Today we went to Paisley to meet the man our MVHR came from. So we could swap our unit for a none dented one. It was going to be Perth but he has a service to do in Paisley so we met him there. He thought that would also be a shorter distance for us to travel. According to google maps, 11 minutes closer. Which surprised everyone, I think.
