RE: 2025 - Today's Recipe - Vinny - 27-12-2025

Shopping at lunchtime, purchased two hot steak pies from Morries. Ate one in the car park in car while it was nice and hot. When i got home I cut the other pie in half (still quite warm) and Kato greedily ate his half after spreading it over the floor first and examining it. Rolleyes

I've just had a medium sirloin steak and some Edam cheese ,shared with kato of course. I may have some lamb breaat later if I get peckish?

B. Sourdough toast and peach jam
L. Potato salad, pickled red cabbage, mixed leaves, rocket, tomatoes & mayo with pumpkin seeds
D. YS Harry Ramsdens' battered Cod fillet goujons. Reduced from £6 to £1.80. There were 8 goujons and I ate 2 (45p). I tucked them inside a soft pitta pocket with tomato mayo.

All FREE except the fish & pumpkin seeds.

I actually had the rest of of my smoked salmon with poached eggs done in my new silicon poachers I got as a present as a late supper. Not too impressed with poachers though.

You seem to eat a lot of mackeral Bren and I am wondering do you fillet it and how do you cook it? I buy mackeral to fillet, cut into chunks and add salt to use as fishing bait. It keeps for ages once salted and stays on the hook better than fresh.

I have had grilled mackeral fillets that I have caught myself which were very tasty so maybe I should start eating it again for it's omega 3 content?

Splashed out on a 1Kg lamb shoulder yesterday as it's down to £9.00 a kilo. I will bung it in the oven after Kato's walk and it should take about 1.5 hours to cook, so will have it for Sunday dinner. Cool

Vinny I buy mackerel fillets, either fresh or frozen ones are handy to have in the freezer,  after roasting the veg until it looks done I put the fillets skin side up on top of the veg and bake for another 10 minutes at 180c.

A couple of recopies I've used.
