Big UP for doing all the work yourselves. Cool A lot of others would have just got contractors in (At contractors prices) Rolleyes

RE: The build - Bren - 23-04-2025

Hopefully today will go better.

RE: The build - JJB - 23-04-2025

Absolutely soul destroying. Fingers crossed for the second attempt.

Is it bureaucracy gone mad? All the rain water from your roof has to go through a treatment plant, all the rainwater falling in and around the roof of the house for miles around goes into the ground and thereafter into the watertable. Same rain same end point. Or am I missing something? It's not for foul water is it?

Treatment plant is for foul water. But the rain water from the roof still has to go through many different pointless hoops. Including pipes, gravel pit and a restriction thingy.
update coming soon.

The treatment plant is back in. [attachment=8180] . It’s at the correct depth and its level. We’ve spent the rest of the day mixing concrete to back fill the hole. It’s taking considerably longer than expected. Still not up to the halfway way point yet. As ever we’ve had help from skew. [attachment=8181]. More of the same tomorrow.

By foul water do you mean sewage or just grey water? I'm (by that I mean P)  is fascinated by it all, thanks for sharing.  That treatment thingy must be a complex bit of kit. Having encased it in concrete, I hope no one wants to get at it again in the future. I'm off to Google treatment plants to learn more.  Every day's a school day.

SC, does this treatment plant thingy need emptying? Like a septic tank?

If treated correctly it doesn't necessarily need empting. But it can be. I think we probably will annually. Just to keep things in good order.
